In 2005, the GreenPower accreditation program was the winner in the climate category of Australia’s top environmental awards.

The Banksia Awards recognise and reward individuals and organisations for leadership and excellence in protecting Australia’s environment.

The award congratulated GreenPower for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping Australia adapt to, and mitigate, the impacts of climate change. The award also congratulated GreenPower for being a “unique driver of behavioural change” amongst the other finalists.

Since 2005 the demand for GreenPower has more than tripled and the decision of thousands of Australians to switch to GreenPower has removed millions of tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from our atmosphere.

Call for 2008 Banksia Awards entries

The Banksia Environmental Foundation are now calling for inspiring examples of environmental excellence from individuals, groups, organizations and governments from all corners of Australia for entry to the 2008 awards.

Entering one of the 13 awards provides an invaluable opportunity for recognition and presents others with the inspiration to follow.

Early bird entries close 18 April 2008 and all entries close 5 May 2008.

Finalists will be announced on World Environment Day 5 June 2008 and winners presented at the Banksia Foundation’s awards night at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on 18 July 2008.
