The National GreenPower Accreditation Program has announced the appointment of the Institute of Sustainable Futures (ISF), University of Technology, Sydney to undertake an evaluation of the Program.
Expected to take a year to complete, the purpose is to ensure optimal performance in the current and emerging energy and environmental policy context, by assessing the continuing relevance and effectiveness of its structure and accreditation and marketing processes.
The evaluation will incorporate:
- An appraisal of the Program’s objectives and operation in the national renewable energy policy and regulatory context
- The identification and analysis of options for updating and improving the Program; and
- Analysis of the effectiveness of the existing governance model to identify options for improving this model.
As part of this evaluation, a comprehensive stakeholder consultation process will be undertaken involving all segments of the GreenPower market, culminating with a full public consultation in mid-to-late 2014.
Specialist marketing and communication consulting firm Republic of Everyone (RoE) has also been engaged in partnership with the ISF to assess the GreenPower marketing activities.
GreenPower Program Manager, Gary Eisner, says:
“From time to time it is important for programs to assess their structures and processes to ensure they remain relevant, efficient and effective. Through this process we hope to identify a range of means by which we can better achieve the Program’s core aim of driving renewable energy investment in Australia by providing consumers with a choice of credible renewable energy products.
We are looking forward to working with the Institute of Sustainable Futures, Republic of Everyone and our stakeholders to help the Program remain relevant, and ensure its ongoing success.”
