Local Government Super (LGS) manages over $8 billion in superannuation assets for 90,000 members in NSW.

The LGS investment portfolio includes a number of commercial, retail and industrial buildings across the state. As a responsible investor, LGS is committed to minimising the environmental impacts of its properties. LGS looks to continuously improve the energy, water and waste performance of their buildings and implement best practice by engaging with tenants, property managers and industry stakeholders.

LGS purchases 100% GreenPower for the base building energy needs across its entire property portfolio, including the LGS office at Local Government House, 28 Margaret Street, Sydney.

Built in 1983, Local Government House achieved a 4 star NABERS Energy rating and reduced electricity consumption by 47% in five years as a result of a range of energy efficiency initiatives. By purchasing 100% GreenPower for the building since 2009, LGS has increased its NABERS Energy rating to a market leading 6 stars and reduced its carbon emissions by more than 2,500 tonnes.
